Enriching Tales, Empowering Minds

We are absolutely delighted to showcase the rapidly growing number of children’s books featuring characters who are not just deaf or hard of hearing but also better reflect the diversity of diagnoses, communication, and technology within the D/HH community.
The heartening surge in publication of these inclusive stories allows young readers and their families to embark on literary adventures that mirror the beautifully diverse world around them while teaching understanding, empathy, and appreciation of differences.
For Makes Waves with Decibels 2024, The Decibels Foundation donated children’s books to three local libraries – Concord, Acton, and Littleton, Massachusetts – as a pilot program to introduce more of these stories to all families in the area. These books, along with information about Decibels, were part of a special display in the children’s rooms at these libraries during Make Waves with Decibels week. Stop by the libraries to check out the books and show appreciation for their partnership with our program!
For Make Waves with Decibels 2025, we are proud to add public libraries in Lawrence and Boxborough to our program.
