Book Club (virtual)
Boston Children's Hospital DHHP Outreach intern Kendall Colleran is hosting a Book Club for d/Deaf and hard of hearing children this summer! Kendall will bring lived and shared experiences with hearing loss, so this is a great opportunity to meet a rising college student who is passionate about literacy and connecting with kids.
The Book Club session will last approximately 20 minutes for children ages 3-7.
Kendall will read "Harmony Hears a Hoot" and “Freddie and the Fairy.” The themes explored in these texts are self-advocacy and speaking up. “Harmony Hears a Hoot” features a character with hearing devices on her first day of school as she makes new friends and shares with her classmates what makes her unique. “Freddie and the Fairy” is a delightful story about self-advocacy in the wake of miscommunication. These are both excellent texts to read prior to the start of the new school year that is somehow fast-approaching!
